A packed year for Asian Hockey

It is going to be a packed year for Asian Hockey.

The Asian Hockey Federation released their provisional calendar for 2021 and at tines it seems there is back to back action.

The season starts off with the Men Junior Asia Cup which will be held from 21-30 January.

This will be followed by the Men’s Asian Champions Trophy from 11 to 18 Match.

Both the events will be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The Women’s Junior Asia Cup is next from 20th to 27th March.

And from March 31 to April 7, South Korea will play host to the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy.

These dates could well pose an issue for Malaysia as Sukma is from April 1-11 in Johor.

Expect a stare against national battle for players here.

Next up will be the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games where Indoor Hockey will be contested.

And in early June, the Asia Cup for the Men and Women Indoor has been pencilled down.

The Sultan Azlan Shah Cup is expected to be held from June 18-27.

The Men’s and Women’s AGF Cup are scheduled in June/July.

Tokyo Olympics will next be the focal point from July 27 to August 8.

Johor will play hosts to the 10th Sultan of Johor Cup from 5-12 September.

The Men’s Asia Cup which serves as a qualifier for the World Cup is pencilled down for late September to early October.

November sees the Masters World Cup from 1-7 followed by the Women’s Asia Cup.

And the SEA Games where Indoor Hockey is expected to be offered will be held in Vietnam from 20 November to December 2.

The Men’s and Junior World Cups have been listed for November/December.

Now let’s go to the Domestic scene.

With the conclusion of the Razak Cup all eyes are in the Junior Hockey Leagues fir Men and Women which were to be held in October but its total silence.

Next is the Under 14 and Under 16’s if they will be held or not.

And the Malaysian Hockey League usually held in January/February is still a poser given the FIG Pro League resumes after the winter break from January to May.

But there are self proclaimed experts who can figure things out.

Anyway the AHF calendar is out and let’s nit put square pegs into round holes please.
