Hafifi provisionally suspended by IWF

Hafifi Mansor who won the gold medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in the 69kg event has been provisionally suspended by the International Weightlifting Federation.

In the public notification news published on its website, the IWF states ;

“ IWF reports that the sample of Mr. Mohd Hafifi MANSOR (MAS) has returned an Adverse Analytical Finding for Oxymetholone (S1.1 Anabolic Agents). As a consequence, the Athlete is provisionally suspended in view of a potential anti-doping rule violation.
In any case where it is determined that the athlete did not commit an anti-doping rule violation, the relevant decision will also be published.
IWF will not make any further comments on the case until it is closed.

Oxymetholone (brand names Anadrol, Anapolon, others) is a synthetic, orally active anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS) and 17α-methylated derivative of dihydrotestosterone (DHT).

This is indeed a bitter blow to Malaysian Sports as only 10 days ago it was revealed that a Malaysian gold medalist was tested positive at the recent SEA Games.
