Hockey: Winds of change in states

While there is changes affecting the political scenario, some significant changes are in store in sports as well.

In particular for Hockey as certain states could well see a change of leadership.

Starting the ball rolling is Perak as former international goalkeeper Ahmad Sayuti is set to be elected President of the Perak Hockey Association on Saturday.

And in south, the Johor Hockey President YB Mohd Khuzzan Abu Bakar tendered his resignation as the President of Johor Hockey Association.

Khuzzan was the state exco member for sports in the previous government.

There could also be a change in Kedah should that state government change hands.

Currently the Kedah HA is led by YB Mohd Asmirul Anuar who was embroiled in the nomination fiasco for the MHC elections last November.

He could well vacate his position should there be a change of leadership in the state government.

Another state that could see a change is Melaka as the new state goverment is expected to be sworn in on Monday.

Although the current President Habibul Najmi Datuk Hj. Manggar is non political, there could be moves to bring in a new President as Hockey is at a standstill in the state.

However no other changes are on the horizon leaving it status quo at the national level.

Some other sports also could see changes, especially Football.

Melaka Football Association will see a new President at the helm, and most likely Perak and Kedah will follow suit.

Interesting times ahead as the nation awaits the next Sports Minister.

Will there be changes in NSC, ISN, Sports Commissioner abd the Stadium Board as well as the various state national Football development coordinators as well as at national level?

Only time will tell.
