Hong Kong loses hosting rights for Junior Asia Cup Qualifiers

The ongoing street protests in Hong Kong have claimed another victim in the field of sports.

Concerned in the recent developments in the SAR, the Asian Hockey Federation has decided to move the qualifiers for the Junior Asia Cup from Hong Kong.

Scheduled to be held in December with 11 countries already Ng conforming participation, the decision of AHF to move the tournament elsewhere was to be expected,

“ We view with concern the recent events in Hong Kong and as such have decided to look for another host for the tournament, said AHF Chief Executive Officer Dato Tayab Ikram.

“ Our decision was made out of concern on the safety of the teams.”

As of now. Brunei and Oman ate in talks with the AHF to take over as hosts

“ We are in the midst of discussions with these two countries and a decision will be made in a weeks time, “ added Tayab.

The qualifiers for the boys Junior Asia Cup will see teams vying for places for the AHF Junior Asia Cup that will be held in Bangladesh from June 4-12 next year.
