Ice Hockey Meltdown

The nine national ice hockey players have been given a lifeline.

Appeal against your exclusion before this Sunday and they will be reinstated into the training squad of the national team that is preparing for the Manila SEA Games.

This was stated by Team Manager Hazurin Harun after appearing before the Olympic Council of Malaysia Selection Panel for the Manila Games.

“ We met the panel and outlined our reasons as to why these players were omitted,” said Hazurin.

“ So we agreed to give the nine players a second chance and hope they will submit their appeal to be included into the training squad by this Sunday.

“ So really the onus is on them now to take the next step, on our part we have repented to extend the appeal period for them.”

The fact that these players have the talent to bring glory to the nation should they decide to rejoin the national squad was further emphasised by national coach Adam

“ I have trained some of these players since they were 13 years old and there is no doubt that they are amongst the best we have in the country,” said Adam Chang.

“ But there can be no compromise towards discipline and hard work in training in order to achieve any measure of success.”

It is learnt that there was no decision taken on the participation of the ice Hockey team for Manila as it is dependent on the quality of team being selected for the multi sports event.

A clearer guideline, with a code of conduct coupled with weightage in attendance in training will also be made available to those in training next Monday,

Hopefully cool heads prevail like the surface they play on and that the players too wear the flag of the nation on their sleeves with pride and honour.
