It’s OK for Hamidin to contest says Ibrahim

There is nothing wrong , both constitutionally and ethically for a paid employee of Football Association of Malaysia to contest for a position in the upcoming Olympic Council of Malaysia elections.

In clarifying on his election as Vice President of OCM in 2007, Tan Sri Dato Seri Dr. Ibrahim Saad said he was still the FAM Secretary General when he contested for a position in OCM.

“ If I remember correctly the OCM elections were in May and I relinquished my position at FAM in August,” recalled Ibrahim.

“ There is no such thing that an employee cannot vie for a elected position.

“ One must remember that serving OCM is a voluntary position and there is nothing wrong about it,”

With current FAM Secretary General Dato Hamidin Mohd Amin considering vying for the Deputy President position at OCM, there was doubts being raised on his eligibility.

“ Firstly I believe Hamidin had yet to decide if he will contest,” said Ibrahim.

“ Secondly If does decide to contest, I think he will be a good choice as he has vast experience in sports administration and good organisational skills which will be an asset to OCM.”

If Hamidin gets the Ho ahead from FAM President Tunku Ismail, then he is expected to face the likes of Dato Azim Zabidi the ISN Board Chairman and YB Senator Dato Megat Zulkarnain.
