MCO Easing: Sports Ministry to issue guidelines as MGA provide advice to Golf Clubs

With the partial relaxation of the Movement Control Order, the Youth & Sports Ministry is in the process of initiating standard operating procedures for sports activities that are being permitted.

In revealing this, it’s Minister Dato Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said that both the National Sports Council and the National Sports Institute have been instructed to formalise recommendations and guidelines that would Ensure the safety of those involved in the activities.

“ Following the Prime Ministers speech this morning, I have instructed both NSC and NSI to prepare guidelines for athletes and coaches that are within the scope of sports that can resume training,” said Dato Seri Reezal

“ However these guidelines must adhere to the pre-set conditions already in place as decided by the National Security Council and the Ministry of Health.”

While the Prime Minister was clear with regards to activities such as running, tennis, Table Tennis as they were non contact sports, there is some confusion though.

The grey area being that badminton, Table Tennis and Takraw are non contact sports but played indoors.

And there was a clause saying indoor sports are not permitted!
