OCM set to tighten qualification , forms Review Panel

The Olympic Council of Malaysia has formed a Review Panel to study the poor performance at the recent Jakarta/Palembang Asian Games

To be chaired by Tan Sri Dr. M. Jegathesan, with the other members of the panel being former National Sports Council Director General Dato Wira Mazlan Ahmad and former National Sports Institute CEO Dato Dr Ramlan Abdul Aziz.

The Review Panel is entrusted to come up with a policy to be presented to the OCM Executive Board with regards to the qualification standards. Time frame and methods to monitor athlete performances

“ Much has been said and written with regards to the selection and participation of sports/Athletes in the recent Asian Games in Jakarta/Palembang,” said OCM President Dato Seri Mohamad Norza Zakaria.

“ The Panel will look into the existing regulations and come up with a proposal to tighten these regulations based on factual data in performances of the Athletes or Team Sports in comparison with other Asian Countries.”

“ As such the Review Panel will study the selection standards, operating procedure with regards towards selection of athletes towards participation in the multi sports events.”

Norza said that there might be additions to the Panel depending on discussions with the Chairman and the time frame will also be determined then.
