Podium Program : Task Force gets going

The Task Force to improve the implementation of the Podium Program started its heating yesterday under the radar and media fanfare.

Several top officials from the National Sports Council and National Sports Council appeared in front of the Task Force, to provide their impetus on the multi million ringgit high performance program.

It was learnt that another session of interview is scheduled for today and it will carry on from Monday to Wednesday.

Some 25 to 30 individuals are expected to provide their views and information as to the running of the program, it’s strengths and weakness as well as input on how to improve it to make it more effective.

Led by former NSC and NDI Director General, the composition of the panel ranges from administrators, Ex Athletes as well as those from the national sports associations.

The deputy chair is Megat Zulkarnain who is the Secretary General of Pesaka.

President of Squash Requests Association Malaysia Nik Razeen Daud, Secretary General of Olympic Council Malaysia, President of Sportswriters Association of Malaysia Jasni Safie, Secretary General of Malaysia Swimming Tang Kwai Mae and former MHC General Manager and 3 time Hockey Olympian Maninderjit Singh make up the composition of the Task Force.

It is also learnt that online sessions will be conducted with the foreign experts who were unceremoniously dumped after what was a sham of a post mortem following the 2018 Asian Games.

As there is a blanket gag order, it will be tough to report on the happenings.
