The Star injustice in removing two dedicate Sports Desk Staff

Despite 10 years of dedicated service to The Star. 37 year old K. Rajan was booted out two days ago.

While the newspaper cited a retrenchment exercise as business was at a down turn. frankly going through numbers and personalities involved, it looked more like “ ethnic cleansing” as many were Indians who were told to leave.

Ironically controlled by MCA, it is downright insulting that a paper of its stature could invoke such injustice when the country needs more jobs rather then putting more in the streets.

If The Star claims that it is due to a downturn of business, then kindly justify how two Indians from the Sports Desk were told to leave when your “ Dim Section “ saw no removals?

Or I Indians are easy targets?

I have known Rajan since he joined The Star 10 years ago and can vouch for his credibility and leg work in chasing stories.

But for the Sports Editor to cute KPI as the reason for him to be on the list of retrenchment is surely the joke of the century.

KPI is really a subjective view with no proof of misconduct whatsoever to cite as a genuine reason.

The only fault Rajan had was he was a Football and not a Badminton writer.

In The Star only Badminton matters and even though you recycle stories day in and day ought, you will never be told to go.

Football no matter what is still and will always be the number one sport in the country and Rajan despite his lack he f aggressiveness ( all due to fact space often given to Badminton( never failed to get the stories

And that is commendable despite rarely seeing his stories appear, if they do it’s 2 days late.

Perhaps the Sports Desk should rename to DHL – Dua Hari Lambat.

Another guy retrenched was Logansth Veloso.

How on earth do you expect them in the Covid 19 pandemic do you expect them to find a job and service their car and housing loans and provide for their children and parents.

The decision to let these two go was downright inhumane and degrading when KPI was cited as the reason!

It was indeed refreshed that the President of the Sports Writers Association Dato Jasni Safie opted to issue a press Statement hitting out against the retrenchment if these two personalities from the Sports Desk.

And it will S hoped that the Youth and Sports Minister Dato Seri Reezal Merican will Whisper into the ears of MCA President Dato Wee Ka Siong in this injustice to the Sports industry,

Statement by SAM

KENYATAAN MEDIA PRESIDEN SAM MENGENAI TINDAKAN AKHBAR THE STAR MEMBERHENTIKAN KHIDMAT KAKITANGANNYA TERMASUK WARTAWAN SUKAN AKHBAR BERKENAAN

Sekian, Terima Kasih.
