Football SEA Games: Catch 22 for final 20

The new regulation by the organising committee of the 2019 Manila SEA Games could well derail Malaysia’s chances in the men’s football competition.

Though the draw has yet to be done, the registration requirement of the final 20 players for the competition, normally done at the team managers meeting, has now been changed.

The trans are now required to name their final 20 players by 7 November.

According The the skeleton fixtures, Malaysia are scheduled to play their first match on November 25.

The only problem is that Malaysia will be involved in an Asia Cup/World Cup Qualifier on November 19.

Forget the fact that the team will only have barely a week to train, forget the fact that they may not even have the luxury of playing a match together before going into competition, the very fact is that over the three weeks players can pick up knocks or injuries – be it with the national team or the Under 23 team,

Undoubtedly there are going to be key players in both the teams – more then likely at least seven.

But wait, we have no issues really – we have the DNA, F30 and Next 50 – there problem solved.
